who is Eric marts??

Eric has been an artist all his life. He started painting at the age of 15 and worked in many mediums including watercolor, acrylic, oil, ink, charcoal, pencil and even sculpture.

In 1989 he decided that being a tattoo artist was his calling and started trying to get an apprenticeship at the Seattle Tattoo Emporium. In 1991 he achieved an apprenticeship and has been tattooing ever since. Tattooing made it possible to pursue other ways of making art, but always returned to painting.

His first interest in Plein Air was in the early 2000’s when he was studying under Artist Jarrett Holderby and hear the stories of his plein air adventures. Life was hectic and finding the time to go somewhere beautiful and paint was difficult. Now life allows the time to pursue plein air and dive deep into oil painting.

Recently he has really dove into portrait and figurative painting, but still gets out to paint the beautiful composition’s nature provides.

Eric is open for portrait commissions. Be it yourself, family member or pet. As well as your favorite tree or spot in your garden.
